Role and Organizational Context

The USC Annenberg Media Digital Product Team sits at the intersection of journalism, technology, and design. As a web developer on the team, I joined at a pivotal moment when the site was undergoing a major architectural and visual overhaul aimed at improving user experience, accessibility, and editorial clarity for USC's premier student media organization.

Working within a structured workflow, I collaborated alongside product managers and UI/UX designers to move initiatives from ticket to deployment efficiently and reliably.

Feature Development and CMS Integration

I implemented web features and actively supported site functionality using Arc XP documentation and other content management systems. This required a deep understanding of the Arc XP platform, its component architecture, and how editorial and technical requirements intersected in a live publishing environment.

Each feature was implemented with maintainability in mind—building solutions that could be handed off cleanly across team rotations without introducing technical debt or inconsistency in the site's codebase.

Homepage Redesign and Collaborative Execution

One of my primary contributions was working on the homepage layout overhaul—a high-visibility effort that required close coordination with project managers and UI/UX coordinators to deliver a result that was not just visually refined, but deeply functional and accessible for all users.

The redesigned layout significantly upgraded the site's information hierarchy, improved mobile responsiveness, and ensured WCAG accessibility compliance—turning the homepage into a stronger, more navigable entry point into Annenberg Media's journalism.

Ticket Workflow and Cross-Functional Impact

Day-to-day, my work was driven by a ticket-based system where I received, scoped, and resolved issues ranging from layout bugs and content display inconsistencies to full feature additions. Collaborating closely with teams and overseers allowed each fix and feature to be addressed with both technical precision and user-centered intent.

This environment sharpened my ability to communicate across disciplines, move quickly without sacrificing quality, and deliver production-ready work on a live, audience-facing platform. Every change shipped was a direct improvement to the experience of thousands of readers and Annenberg's broader editorial mission.
