Team Leadership On-Site Documentation Video Editing Narrative Structuring Post-Production

Project Overview and Team Direction

The Cohort 12 IYA Mural at USC was a multi-week storytelling and media project that captured the development, installation, and community impact of a school mural from concept to completion. As mural documentation team lead, I organized the production structure, assigned responsibilities, coordinated shot priorities, and ensured each phase of progress was consistently captured. The objective was not just to record the process, but to create a polished narrative that reflected the mural’s creative intent and the people behind it.

Field Coverage and Documentation Workflow

In addition to drawing alongside the artists, I led day-to-day capture operations across a team of contributors, overseeing video thematics, coverage balance, and continuity between scenes. We documented artist progress, environmental context, process details, and milestone moments while adapting to changing conditions on-site.

Through careful logging and clip tracking, I maintained a usable archive that made post-production faster, cleaner, and more strategic.

Editorial Leadership and Final Video Assembly

In post-production, I personally edited the final video and shaped the story arc from raw footage into a cohesive documentary-style piece. This included sequencing, pacing, visual transitions, and continuity decisions that highlighted both artistic craftsmanship and community participation. I also refined audio and visual timing so the final cut felt intentional, professional, and emotionally grounded.

Impact and Project Outcome

The finished documentation delivered a high-quality visual record of the mural process and became a meaningful artifact for the school community. Beyond the final deliverable, the project strengthened collaboration across team members and created a reusable framework for future visual storytelling projects.

The result was both archival and celebratory: a clear narrative of creative work, coordinated leadership, and shared pride in a lasting public piece.
